About 5–7 Lions. Prep on your phone at home. Run the den from the printed letter so kids see you, not a screen.

• 0. Open ~5 min
  Cub Scout sign. Welcome families. Brief: tonight we start Bobcat.
  Say: “Welcome Lions! Tonight we get to know our den, hear the Scout Law, practice being friendly, and share a time we did our best.”
• 1. Req 1 · Get to know the den ~10 min
  Print lion faces from 2026-09-21-den-banner-lions.pdf. Each Lion writes their name, glues onto big white paper as the den banner. Chat favorite things while assembling.
  Cue: “Write your name on your lion. Glue it on our banner. Tell us one favorite thing while you work.”
• 2. Req 2 · Scout Law + Friendly Walk ~5–10 min
  Read the whole Scout Law once (~20 sec). Then Friendly Walk only. Kids walk, high-five or wave+smile to every Lion and adult. Call “Scout!” to freeze. 2 to 3 rounds.
  Do not march all 12 points. Optional tiny extras only if time: helpful (pick up scrap) and cheerful (silly smile freeze).
  Say: “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.” Then: “Tonight we practice friendly. Walk, high-five or wave and smile. When I say Scout! freeze.”
• 3. Req 3 · Do Your Best ~5–10 min
  Point to each kid’s lion on the banner. Adult partner prompts a real past tried-hard moment (soccer, tying shoes, cleaning a room). Kid shares one sentence with partner. Optional: write answers real big on a second sheet.
  Not hypothetical grocery or playground scenarios. Real moments only.
  Cue to partners: “Ask your Lion about a time they really tried hard. One sentence is enough.”
• 4. Closing game · Duck Duck Lion ~5–8 min
  Kids sit in a circle. One Lion walks around tapping heads: “duck… duck… LION!” That Lion chases; tagged sit, new walker continues. Keep it gentle. Lets them move and interact after sitting for Do Your Best.
  Say: “Circle up. We are playing Duck Duck Lion. Soft taps. When you hear LION, run around the circle and sit in the open spot.”
• 5. Dismiss ~2–3 min
  Cheer for the banner. Next den Oct 12 (Lion’s Roar + skit practice). Snack if time. Remind: Req 4 is parent homework after den (you will message tomorrow).
  Say: “Great job Lions. Next den is Monday October 12. Parents: I will send a short message tomorrow about the parent booklet for Bobcat Req 4.”
