Supplies: lion face prints · big white paper · glue/tape · markers · this letter · optional 2nd sheet + scissors + snack
  1. 0 Open ~5 min
    Cub Scout sign. Welcome. Tonight = Bobcat start.
    Say: “Welcome Lions! Tonight we get to know our den, hear the Scout Law, practice being friendly, and share a time we did our best.”
  2. 1 Req 1 · Get to know den (banner) ~10
    ☐ Done
    Each Lion: name on lion face → glue on big white paper (den banner). Talk favorite things while assembling.
    Cue: “Write your name on your lion. Glue it on our banner. Tell us one favorite thing while you work.”
  3. 2 Req 2 · Scout Law + Friendly Walk ~5–10
    ☐ Done
    Read Law once (~20 sec). Then Friendly Walk only (do not march all 12). Walk · high-five or wave+smile to every Lion and adult · call “Scout!” to freeze · 2–3 rounds. If time: helpful (pick up scrap) · cheerful (silly smile freeze).
    Say: Law below, then “Tonight we practice friendly. Walk, high-five or wave and smile. When I say Scout! freeze.”
  4. 3 Req 3 · Do Your Best ~5–10

    Point to each lion on banner. Adult prompts a REAL tried-hard moment (soccer, shoes, cleaning room). Kid: one sentence with partner. Optional: write big on 2nd sheet. Not hypothetical scenarios.
    Partners: “Ask your Lion about a time they really tried hard. One sentence is enough.”
  5. 4 Closing game · Duck Duck Lion ~5–8
    Circle. One Lion: “duck… duck… LION!” Chase gently; tagged sits; new walker. Move + interact after Do Your Best.
    Say: “Circle up. Soft taps. When you hear LION, run and sit in the open spot.”
  6. 5 Dismiss ~2–3
    Cheer for banner. Snack if time. Next den Oct 12 (Lion’s Roar + skit practice).
    Say: “Great job Lions. Next den is Monday October 12. Parents: short message tomorrow about the Bobcat parent booklet.”
